For My Make Art Happen project I used the quote "I'm beginning to think that there's jsut one kind of folks, folks" from To Kill A Mockingbird. I chose this quote because i believe in its message of equality and togetherness. My project is made up of a circle of blank people holding hands, showing that at our base were all the same. I also chose to use basic notebook paper for my project to show that art dosen't have to be expensive and perfect to be beautiful.

William Golding’s Lord Of The Flies is one of the most popular and controversial books of all time. The book has been challenged and banned several times in several different areas. I believe this is because the book has many cases of extreme violence including torture and the beheading of a pig. It also has gives the message that children are savage beasts at heart. This content is obviously very controversial to parents whose children are reading this book. I personally believe that this book should not be banned I do not believe any book should be banned. I see the banning of books to be an infringement on our freedom of speech. However, I do believe that the book should have a warning label for the graphic content it contains.
Divergent pulled in readers of all ages into its beautifully crafted world and characters that left readers breathless. After reading this masterfully crafted story many people find themselves unable to find a replacement for it to read. None other than Marie Lu’s Legend can fill this position. Legend is a dystopian adventure story full of qualities such as proficient world-building, strong and willful female protagonists, and a turbulent theme of rebellion, that made divergent so exceptional. It will leave lovers of Divergent and other books like it blown away with how it excellently pieces together so many great elements into one complete and fulfilling novel.
I One of the most attractive qualities of both novels is the dynamic world-building that is always present in their stories. In Divergent the broken world of the not-so-distant future Chicago has a fulfilling and believable reality. It provides a world that is obviously broken, the way to fix it isn't clear. These qualities blend together to create one satisfying world. All of these qualities can also be applied to Legend’s Republic. The Republic is half of the broken remains of the U.S. It has a corrupt government, extreme class segregation, and terrible natural disasters. Divergent wouldn’t be the same without its strong heroine of Tris Prior. Tris is brave, courageous, and full of willpower. She faced too many challenges and overcame every single one. Tris came from a simple background but became something great. Legend’s June Iparis shares many of these qualities, and also shines in some of her own ways, such as her extreme skill and loyalty. June is smart, clever, and cunning, yet still flawed. June’s character really brings you in and keeps you reading Legend also shares with Divergent a main rebellious conflict that binds their stories together. In Divergent Tris and 4 and the others have to fight against the tyrannical Erudite faction. This is the whole main conflict of the book. Legend has a similar conflict with the fight against the corrupt totalitarian Republic. Thus conflict is the second main focal point of the book and has the most suspense, conflict, and action of the whole book. It keeps you locked in and brings back the same feelings that Divergent brought to you. The immaculate stories of Legend and Divergent are both very similar yet also unique in their own rights. Both of these tales recount incredible heroines, innovative worlds, and fractious themes of rebellion that pull in readers and don’t let them leave. The heroines of Tris Prior and June Iparis are both strong and cunning, making you believe in them and want to root for them, and their turbulent rebellions bring up great conflicts that keeps interested and give you an emotional connection to the story. |
